Twenty InMotion Entertainment stores are offering the first Download2Go(TM) digital kiosks, allowing travelers to download digital movies to Secure Digital card in about two minutes.
The titles, available for rent or purchase, include new releases and catalog titles that can be played on Windows computers.
The kiosks, developed by NCR Corp. and MOD Systems, can be found at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL), Denver International (DEN), John F. Kennedy International (JFK), Lambert-St. Louis International (STL), Los Angeles International (LAX), Memphis International (MEM), Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX), Sacramento International (SMF), Salt Lake City International (SLC), San Antonio International (SAT), San Francisco International (SFO) and Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA).
“NCR and MOD Systems have delivered a highly innovative solution for putting movies into our customers’ hands as they get ready for long flights ahead,” says Jeremy Smith, president of InMotion Entertainment. “Our customers love the idea of loading up an SD card that pops right into their laptop, with hours of enjoyment from the latest hit movies that are never out of stock and don’t need to be returned.”
In addition to digital movies, consumers will be able to download television shows to SD cards, as well as music tracks and albums to flash drives and directly to MP3 players in the fall. The kiosks allow customers to do this without an Internet connection.
“Previous entertainment for travelers on the go was minimal, and what was available was inflexible,” says Justin Hotard, vice president and general manager of NCR Entertainment. “Through this new service, we are expanding consumers’ access to music and movies in airports, as well as diversifying this access onto multiple devices. We are thrilled to be bringing more robust entertainment choices to consumers while they are on the go with Download2Go kiosks. This new technology allows travelers access to simple, affordable and flexible entertainment.”
InMotion customers may select from more than 2,600 movies; most rentals cost $3.99, and most purchases range from $12.99 to $19.99. When renting a movie, consumers have 30 days to watch it; once the rental is started, it can be watched an unlimited number of times for a 48-hour period. Consumers can use their own SD cards for the movies, or purchase one in the store.
