Indianapolis International Airport (IND) and the American Heart Association have launched a program to train airport passengers in hands-only CPR at an in-terminal interactive kiosk.
Airport firefighters were on hand October 4.to educate travelers at the kiosk, which features a touch screen with a brief video that shows how to perform hands-only CPR, followed by a practice session and a 30-second CPR test. With the help of a practice manikin, or a rubber torso, the kiosk gives feedback about the depth and rate of compressions and proper hand placement – factors that influence the effectiveness of CPR.
IND is now one of 21 airports in the United States with a CPR kiosk.
