The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has called into question the disadvantaged business qualifications of four companies who were awarded contracts at Hartsfield-Jackson International Atlanta (ATL) despite the city not having the authority to grant or revoke such certification.
The FAA has discovered that Atlanta Restaurant Partners and Mack II had personal net worths that exceeded the cap to qualify as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the PNW cap is $1.31M (raised from $750,000) and does not include the value of one’s residence or the value of ownership interest in the DBE certified firm.
In regards to Vida Concessions and Hojeij Branded Foods, the FAA found the companies had submitted documents that were not properly filed and/or verified. The matter focuses on Vida’s relationship with Hojeij.
The four companies represent a majority of the recently awarded food concession contracts at ATL.
