De Oliveira To Vacate ACI-World Post At Year End

Luis Felipe de Oliveira, director general of Airports Council International (ACI) World, will step down from his role at the end of 2024. De Oliveira expresses his desire to return to Europe with his family after four years at the helm of ACI World.

Taking on the role during the unprecedented challenges posed by the global pandemic, de Oliveira steered ACI World through the most severe crisis ever experienced in the aviation sector. ACI-World said that while challenges remain in the airport industry that require long-term attention, de Oliveira played a large role in elevating the organization as a global leader in shaping aviation policy, while also fortifying the financial foundation of ACI-World and doubling reserves.

“Leading ACI World as director general over the past four years has been a great honor,” said de Oliveira. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure, but with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude to the organization.”

De Oliveira also revitalized the internationally renowned Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program (AMPAP). ACI-World said the early announcement of his departure is aimed at providing time for a smooth transition to the next director general.

“I thank Felipe for his dedicated and focused leadership during one of the most tumultuous periods in the history of aviation,” said Candace McGraw, CEO of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) and incoming chair of ACI World. “We will work closely together over the next year to ensure the ongoing, continued success of the organization during this transition.”
