Maureen Riley is ARN’s Director of the Year in the large airports category; colleagues praise her collaborative, contemplative approach that helps Salt Lake City International thrive. Consolidation in the concessions industry is continuing, with larger companies, international influences and opportunities for smaller firms all emerging as a result. Several events and developments influenced airports and concessions in 2015. Looking ahead, retail continues to evolve on the “street,” and those changes are impacting airport operations as well. Concessionaires find a captive audience of the hundreds or sometimes thousands of people who work at an individual airport. Philadelphia International’s latest capital program will span well over a decade. Portland International’s Vince Granato is overseeing terminal and concessions redevelopments as passenger numbers rise.
