DEN Seeks Proposals For Naming Outdoor Plaza

Denver International (DEN) is soliciting proposals for the naming of its outdoor plaza, which will connect the new Westin Hotel and Conference Center with the existing Jeppesen Terminal.

The plaza will be a space for arts, entertainment and relaxation, officials say.

Airport officials are planning to name the plaza after someone who has made a significant contribution to the success of the airport from a cultural, political, economic or social perspective. Those interested in nominating someone can visit denplaza.flydenver.com. Nominations will be accepted through Sept. 30 and the name will be announced at a public dedication Feb. 28.

The Hotel and Transit Center Program will bring passengers new amenities along with the 519-room Westin. A new transit center serving all Regional Transportation District buses, a new East Rail line and a public plaza also will be included. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2015, with the rail line beginning operations the following year.
