Denver International (DEN) has plans to build a four-story parking structure that will add 1,795 public spaces on the east side of its Jeppesen Terminal.
Construction of the $46 million facility is scheduled to begin this month and take two years to compete. Swinerton Builders will build the parking garage. The project will be paid for out of DEN’s capital improvement project fund.
Separately, DEN is nearing completion on a project that will add 261 parking spaces adjacent to the north end of the east parking garage. An additional 430 spaces were added recently to the east and west economy lots through a redesign of the current layout.
After the new garage is build, the airport will offer a total of 19,496 garage spaces and will manage a total of 43,275 spaces. The additions are part of a package of upgrades aimed at improving the airport experience for parking customers. In 2014, several reserved parking spaces were added in the east and west parking garages and electric vehicle charging stations were installed in late 2013. Energy-efficient lighting in the buildings also has been improved in recent years.
“We are working to improve the parking experience at DIA by adding additional capacity and making other investments in our products that provide the highest level of customer service and value,” says Greg Hegarty, acting senior vice president of commercial.
