DFW and American Airlines To Renovate Terminal E Satellite

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has announced plans to renovate its Terminal E Satellite facility, a construction project that will include adding six more gates to the nine gates that already make up the terminal. The renovation will also add more modern concessions space.

The renovated Terminal E Satellite will include 15 gates for regional jet usage, more seating in gate areas, additional power outlets for charging electronic devices and enhanced wayfinding signage. The airport also plans to update air and electrical systems and install new carpeting, surfaces and jet bridges. Additionally, the project will address transportation access to the satellite from the main Terminal E concourse.

As part of this renovation, American Airlines has signed a lease agreement that includes a provision for the airline to carry out $20 million worth of upgrades. Work will begin this year and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2019, when the Terminal E Satellite will become home to American Airlines’ regional flights.

This project is part of DFW’s $2 billion Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program, the first phase of which launched in 2011.

“As DFW continues to attract more air service and more customers, we are embarking on a mission to deliver more gates to meet the growing demand,” says Khaled Naja, executive vice president of infrastructure and development at DFW. “Our Terminal Renovation and Improvement Program just wrapped up construction in Terminal B, and we’re excited to extend some of those same enhancements to Terminal E’s satellite gates, delivering more consistent aesthetics and amenities for our customers.”
