DFW Breaks Ground On New Terminal

Airport officials and project partners gathered to celebrate the official groundbreaking of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)’s Terminal F project. The new terminal — the airport’s sixth and first new terminal since 2005 — is scheduled to open in 2027 and will feature a 400,000-square-foot concourse and 15 gates as well as new concessions and retail. Project builders Innovation Next+ (a joint venture consisting of Archer Western Construction, Turner Construction Company, Phillips May Corporation, H. J. Russell & Company and CARCON Industries; with PGAL, Gensler and Muller2 responsible for design) will use modular construction to prefabricate elements of the terminal offsite before transferring into the new terminal space, in a strategy designed to expedite construction timelines amid other expansion work on Terminals A, C and E.

“The new Terminal F will expand the airport’s footprint with state-of-the-art facilities that align with our first-in-class customer experience and operation as we support the historic rise in air travel to and from the North Texas region,” said DFW CEO Sean Donohue. “By utilizing modular construction techniques that we first pioneered with the High-C Gates, we will deliver Terminal F using technology at a scale that’s unique among airport development projects.”

“Terminal F has a key role in preparing for more historic growth on the horizon for both DFW Airport and the North Texas community,” added DeMetris Sampson, chair of DFW’s Board of Directors. “This new terminal will allow the airport to continue discovering new ways to care for our customers, inspire the future of travel, fuel our community with more jobs and create opportunities for businesses in our region.”
