Dallas-Fort Worth International (DFW) makes an annual economic impact of more than $16.6B, according to an aviation study conducted by Wilbur Smith Associates on behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
That’s more than one-third of the economic impact of commercial and general aviation as a whole, which contributes more than $48B to the state’s economy. The study used 2005 as its base and indicated that DFW’s total impact was up 16% from the previous study, which was conducted using 2001 data.
DFW and its businesses also provide 305,000 jobs and $7B in annual payroll to the North Texas economy as well, the study concluded.
