Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW) has opened a portion of Terminal E, used by Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines, in time for the summer travel period.
The improvements, part of the airport’s ongoing Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program, include gates E11 through E17, corresponding airline ticketing halls for Delta and Alaska airlines, baggage claims E13 and E14 and a security checkpoint.
The opening signals the end of the third phase of the Terminal E project and also coincides with the opening of an adjacent 1,800-space parking garage that features the airport’s Parking Guidance System technology.
“When our customers arrive at Terminal E, they will certainly notice significant progress and activity,” says Khaled Naja, executive vice president of airport development and planning.
Other enhancements airport officials say passengers will notice are charging tables, upgraded seating at gates and plenty of food and shopping enhancements. Southwest News opened pre-security this week. Love Shack, a burger joint by Chef Tim Love at gate E11; a Marshall-Rousso women’s accessories store at E12; a Sonny Bryan’s smokehouse barbecue at E13; a Texas Marketplace gift store at E15 and an InMotion Entertainment shop at E16 also are available.
The fourth and final phase of renovation on Terminal E begins next month. That project will encompass enhancements to gates E2 through E10, adding more concessions and improving another section of terminal parking. That is expected to be completed in late 2017.
