DTW Destination Pass Program Extended

Following a successful pilot program that began in October, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) has extended the DTW Destination Pass Program indefinitely, providing non-travelers with access to the concessions and other amenities on the post-security side of the McNamara and North terminals.

“We’ve received a tremendous response to the DTW Destination Pass program,” says Chad Newton, CEO of the Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA), operators of the airport. “We understand that our facility is more than just an airport—it is a place where memories are made. It is a pleasure to offer everyone a chance to experience DTW and create memories that will last a lifetime.”

The DTW Destination Pass program is limited to 75 visitor passes per day and the passes can be used from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Those looking to participate in the DTW Destination Pass program must still apply for a pass through the airport’s website the day before their planned visit. All approved participants must then submit to the same security regulations as passengers boarding an aircraft.

“The DTW Destination Pass program is averaging more than 60 applicants a day,” says WCAA security chief Debra Sieg. “The information we’ve received from participant surveys indicates that most approved applicants utilized the program to meet someone who was arriving at or departing from the airport. However, some wanted to watch planes or visit one of our dining or retail options.”
