Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) has announced a swath of new concessions, entertainment and retail concepts as part of its Terminal Concession Program Transition. DTW will open 12 new retail shops, six restaurants and two video game lounges as current concessions contracts expire over the next two years.
The concepts will be managed by a mix of operators: Paradies Lagardère, Delaware North, Gameway, Inc. and WH Smith North America. Paradies Lagardère’s future concessions include store-within-a-store 313 Exchange/Dylan’s Candy Bar, which combines Michigan-themed news, convenience and artisanal gifts with the popular national candy boutique; locally-focused news and convenience store Corktown Place, named after Detroit’s oldest neighborhood and carrying a Pure Michigan gift shop; locally sourced convenience, gifts and apparel stores Detroit-VS-Everybody and Motor City Essentials; golf and lifestyle apparel boutique Eastside Golf; specialty apparel, home, and personal product store Hip & Humble; tech supply retailer iStore Express as well as national clothing retailer Johnston & Murphy.
Delaware North’s offerings include local food and beverage showcase Born in Detroit Kitchen + Bar, featuring products from co-brand Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company; Detroit-focused distillery Cask & Craft Local Spirits + Bites, a beverage-focused concept featuring two renown Detroit distilleries; Detroit-based health-forward café 7greens, which focuses on high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and chef-inspired recipes; and national brands Dunkin’ and Wahlburgers.
WH Smith North America’s concepts will include Michigan-branded news and convenience store Fuel Travel Shop; the Motown Greatest Hits Travel Shop; and artisan gift shop Michigan Makers, which will showcase the work of some of Michigan’s artisans to create a one-of-a-kind shopping experience made expressly for DTW travelers. The company will also operate the tech retailer iStore.
Video game lounge operators Gameway, Inc. will launch a Gameway “Classic” Lounge, featuring multiple gaming stations, pre-packaged snacks and non-alcoholic beverages as well as a Gameway “Ultra” Lounge, featuring both cutting-edge and retro gaming stations, pre-packaged snacks and alcoholic beverages.
“DTW is already the number one ranked mega airport in North America,” said Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton of the upcoming installations. “These additions, with their Detroit-centric branding, will help us maintain our position among the top airports in the country, as we take Detroit to the world and bring the world to Detroit.”
