A new parking garage with 1,200 spaces and a consolidated rental car facility have opened this week at Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National (ICT), with a new terminal building scheduled to arrive next week.
The airport, formerly known as Wichita Mid-Continent, has needed the upgrades for a long time, says Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell.
“The new terminal and the addition of the new parking garage and rental car center represent a significant improvement for travelers and other customers visiting Eisenhower Airport,” he says. “We’re very excited that construction is nearly complete. The new terminal project is the airline gateway to our state. It will serve as a first and last impression for many visitors to our region and it reinforces Wichita’s global status as the Air Capital of the World.”
The parking garage has four levels, and 800 of the 1,200 stalls will be under cover, as will crosswalks taking travelers to and from the new terminal building, which will open Wednesday. The new rental car center contains customer service counters for all nine agencies serving ICT. It’s located adjacent to the garage.
Construction continues until later this fall on two more parking lots surrounding the garage.
