Eugene (EUG) will receive a $7.4 million entitlement grant to help fund a terminal expansion project that will help the airport deal with increasing traffic.
The airport has set passenger records three consecutive years and is on track for a fourth. The project will include:
• Relocation and expansion of passenger security screening checkpoint, including automated exit lane technology
• Replacement and relocation of escalators and stairs
• Replacement of the B-Gate hold room
• Replacement of bag-claim carousel and addition of a second carousel
• Relocation and expansion of law enforcement office
• Addition of two rental car/airport shuttle counters
• Possible relocation of A-Gate elevator
Construction likely will start later this year and take about two years to complete, says Cathryn Stephens, assistant airport director. In addition to the grant, passenger facility charge funds and local funds will help cover the cost.
“We very much appreciate the continued support of our passengers and our Congressional delegation,” Stephens says. “This project will help alleviate congestion in the terminal building and provide an even better passenger experience.”
