Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and development partner Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Airports (URW) have awarded 22 new concessions for Terminal B, all of which are slated to open this year.
The rollout of the new restaurants and shops is part of the Port Authority’s extensive overhaul of concessions at all of its New York area airports.
“Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Airports is transforming Terminal B concessions into a unique dining and retail experience for travelers, with distinctive New Jersey concepts and menus to match,” said Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole..
The 22 locations will collectively occupy more than 25,000 square feet. Operators will include Areas, Canonica, HMSHost, InMotion, Pacific Gateway Concessions and Villa Restaurant Group.
Villa Restaurant Group was awarded the contract for three new quick-service dining options as well as the full-service, 40NORTH Restaurant concept, Piattino: A Neighborhood Bistro at Terminal B. Located in the pre-security area of Terminal B, the new quick-service restaurants are Tony + Benny’s Pizza Parlor, Carlo’s Bakery and Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill.

HMSHost and partner Imagine Airport Ventures, LLC (IAV) will operate three new food and beverage spaces in Terminal B, including Jersey by the Shore Food Hall, an original food hall concept that will includes Malone’s Fish Market, Little’s Tony’s Pizzeria, and Firehouse Subs. HMSHost will also manage Newark Budweiser Brew House and Smashburger in the terminal.
Construction of the new dining and retail destinations is already underway. Two locations — the travel essentials store All You Need and Starbucks – are currently open and operating. The other brands will continue to open throughout 2019, introducing travelers to three branded sections of the terminal that emphasize design elements inspired by New Jersey settings: Jersey Shore boardwalks, Newark’s Ironbound section and a Garden State theme.
Among the other food and dining outlets opening in Terminal B are Carlo’s Bake Shop — the Hoboken-based inspiration of TLC television show Cake Boss – Smashburger, Panda Express, Italian eatery Piattino, Mexican favorite Salsarita’s, The New Stand coffee and amenities shop, Cacao Bar, Tony + Benny’s Pizza Parlor and Canonica restaurant.
The new retail options also include two new shops featuring the latest in technology and electronics: InMotion and Wired.
In addition to the new retail and food options, PANYNJ and URW have introduced other amenities to enhance the travel experience, including an interactive New Jersey Hall of Fame exhibit at Newark Liberty.
