The first-ever FAO Schwarz travel retail store opened Thursday inside Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International (JFK).
Luxury retailer DFS Group will operate the 300-square-foot pop-up shop through Dec. 31. The store is designed to embody the nostalgic, playful personality of FAO Schwarz with its whimsical aesthetic to its assortment of one-of-a-kind toys and specialty goods, Terminal 4 officials say.
“This imaginative in-store retail experience will provide travelers with yet another option to purchase premium goods while on the go,” says Gert-Jan de Graaff, president and CEO of JFKIAT, which operates Terminal 4.
Offerings include oversized plush animals, vintage toys and the floor piano for which the brand is known.
“DFS is delighted to partner with FAO Schwarz to bring even more excitement to our traveling customers this season,” says Brooke Supernaw, senior vice president for spirits, wine, tobacco, food and gifts with DFS. “This pop-up store is a perfect complement to the excitement of travel, the thrill of discovery and the joy of the holidays.”
