Kent George, director of aviation at the Broward County Aviation Department, has been recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration’s Southern region as its Air Carrier Airport Manager of the Year for 2013.
George was recognized earlier this week at the 45th annual Florida Airports Council Conference & Exposition in Jacksonville, Fla.
The FAA honored George for safely and efficiently operating Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) while the airport experienced fast passenger growth and a significant airport development project. FLL is going through a $2.3 billion expansion program that includes the addition of a runway, the expansion of the airport’s international terminal, construction of an additional concourse on Terminal 1 and the modernization of three terminals.
