Food Trucks Dish Out Lunch At MIA

Miami International’s (MIA) Central Terminal was home to three food trucks for the day on Oct. 2.

Ms. Cheezious, Che Grill and Moty’s Grill trucks were parked outside the terminal and serving passengers and employees during lunchtime. MIA will continue hosting different food trucks every other Friday for lunch.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to offer different quality food choices at MIA, and these food trucks certainly tap into a niche market that we haven’t reached until now,” says Emilio T. Gonzalez, Miami-Dade aviation director. “As a gateway airport for passengers from around the world, MIA is the ideal place to showcase the diversity of our local restaurant industry.”

The presence of the food trucks also served to start the airport’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month fundraising campaign. People who work at MIA and participated in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk on Oct. 3 sold items at the event to raise money for breast cancer research. Vehicles from MIA, the Miami-Dade Police Department, Miami-Dade Public Works and Waste Management, and Miami-Dade Transit were also at the event, wrapped in pink. MIA is one of the top-ranking fundraising teams for the MSABC Walk in Florida.

“We have all been touched by cancer in some way, whether it’s affected us directly or through a loved one, friend or colleague,” says Carlos A. Gimenez, Miami-Dade County mayor. “I’m so proud of our employees at MIA and throughout the county who are supporting the American Cancer Society’s efforts to find a cure for this deadly disease.”
