After a five-month global search, Kelly J. Fredericks has been chosen as the new CEO of Ontario International (ONT).
“After a global search for the ideal aviation professional to manage and grow Ontario International Airport, we are extremely fortunate to have successfully recruited Kelly Fredericks,” says Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority. “He is a rising industry star, well respected and well known. He will ensure ONT is ready to meet the growing demand for air service in the region while maximizing the airport’s positive economic impact in the Inland Empire and beyond.”
Fredericks takes the position with 33 years of aviation-related industry experience. He most recently served as president and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corp. and operator of T.F. Green, the commercial airport that serves Providence and the New England region.
“I am pleased and honored to become the first CEO for the Ontario International Airport Authority,” says Fredericks. “I am impressed by everything happening in the Inland Empire. The transformation of Ontario International Airport is the most intriguing and exciting development project I can imagine. I have never seen such commitment and support demonstrated by a community towards a key transportation hub and such a spirit of collaboration to optimize its economic benefit.”
Fredericks will start with the OIAA in March and take over ONT following approval of the airport transfer by the Federal Aviation Administration. In an agreement reached last year, ONT will be transferred to the OIAA from Los Angeles World Airports.
Fredericks is an accredited airport executive by the American Association of Airport Executives and serves on the board of directors of Airports Council International – North America. He also is a regional director and board member of the National Association of State Aviation Officials.
