Massport Director of Aviation Ed Freni will take over as interim CEO of Massport in November, when current CEO Lisa Wieland plans to step down after four years at the helm. Massport operates Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
Freni will continue his duties as aviation director.
During her tenure, Wieland guided Massport through the pandemic challenges and also spearheaded numerous infrastructure projects at BOS, including the soon to be modernized Terminal E that will feature four new gates.
“Lisa Wieland has been an outstanding CEO whose clear strategy, get things done approach, and collaboration with business partners and communities have led to a lot of success,” said Patricia Jacobs, chair of the Massport board of directors. “I am confident in Interim CEO Ed Freni and the senior management team’s ability to keep Massport moving forward as the board undertakes the process to find a new CEO.”
