Mark Gale has been named acting director of aviation at Philadelphia International (PHL), taking over duties from Charles Isdell, who retires Friday.
Gale has been deputy director of aviation for operations and facilities since 2001, leading a group of managers to direct day-to-day critical airport functions such as airport operations, security, safety and maintenance.
He joined the airport in 1989 and held a variety of operational positions before becoming the airport’s operations manager in 1996, a role he kept until 2000 when he was appointed deputy director.
“As we conduct a national search for a permanent director, there is no question that the airport is in good hands with Mark’s considerable experience and recognized leadership abilities,” says Mayor Michael A. Nutter.
Gale holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical studies from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and is an accredited member of the American Association of Airport Executives.
