The Gary Chicago International Airport Authority board named Stephen Mays, a local businessman and community leader, as chairman.
The authority oversees Gary Chicago International (GYY).
Mays has been a State Farm agent for 25 years and serves as president of the Gary Chapter of the NAACP.
“I look forward to working with the board, staff and private partners to help realize the potential of the Gary Chicago International Airport,” Mays says. “Critical to its success is the completion of the runway expansion project and that will be a top priority for me as Chairman.”
GYY recently celebrated the first anniversary of its signing a public-private partnership deal under which AvPorts operates the airport.
