Grab, the airport e-commerce platform, is expanding its partnership with American Airlines. With American’s latest mobile app release for iOS and Android, Grab is now available from the home screen on the day of departure.
When customers open the American app to check-in, retrieve boarding passes or get flight status prior to departure, Grab will appear on the home screen if participating restaurants and retailers are available based on the traveler’s itinerary. Stores convenient to the traveler based on their terminal or concourse will be featured prior to departure. Following departure, Grab will feature stores convenient to the traveler’s connecting or destination airport.
“Tailoring the digital experience to the traveler by featuring restaurants and retail stores based on their path through the airport creates an incredibly personalized experience for American’s passengers” said Jeff Livney, chief experience officer at Grab. “We are excited to launch this enhanced integration within the American mobile app and anticipate significant incremental revenues to our restaurateurs and retailers on the platform. Tens of millions of travelers using the American app on day of travel with limited time in the terminal will find the ease and personalization of Grab a real benefit to their airport experience.”
In addition to providing value to originating passengers and those connecting with limited time, the widespread ability for travelers to browse onboard using Wi-Fi and collect upon landing is a significant opportunity to reach deplaning passengers.
Grab’s integration within the American app is now available in 20 airports, both domestic and international, with participating partners such as Delaware North, Paradies Lagardère, SSP America, Areas USA, Concessions International, Hojeij Branded Foods, Midfield Concessions and more.
