Grand Hyatt Approved To Manage, Brand Planned Hotel At SFO

A planned hotel on the grounds of San Francisco International (SFO) will be managed and branded by Grand Hyatt, pending approval from Mayor Ed Lee.

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on Dec. 1 passed a resolution approving the contract awarded to Grand Hyatt.

“I am grateful to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for approving this contract,” says John L. Martin, airport director at SFO. “The Grand Hyatt is recognized around the world for exceptional guest service, and with this approval, we move one step closer in our vision to create the most innovative, luxurious and environmentally sustainable on-airport hotel in the world.”

The hotel, which is expected to be completed in 2019, will be constructed and owned by the airport. Grand Hyatt will be responsible for the branding and day-to-day management of the facility. The hotel will have around 350 rooms, 17,500 square feet of meeting space, full-service and casual restaurants, a wine and sushi bar, a rooftop cocktail lounge, health club, pool and spa. It will be close to the terminal buildings and have direct access to the AirTrain light rail system.

Construction is set to start in the spring of 2016. The hotel will be designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold certification.
