Gerald R. Ford International (GRR) in Grand Rapids, Mich., hosted hundreds of extra visitors during a week in mid-March during the filming of James Ponsoldt movie “The End of the Tour.”
More than 100 people worked more than 14 hours, filming in several locations throughout the airport, including the economy parking lot, the parking ramp, the airfield, the Concourse B hallway and two vacant ticket counter areas.
GRR staff and security worked with the cast and crew for weeks leading up to the filming so they could scout times and locations. The airport was acting as a stand-in for both Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP) and Chicago O’Hare International (ORD).
“We are excited to be featured in this film,” says Brian Ryks, executive director. “We fully support the film industry and love to see the industry grow right here in West Michigan. It is a unique experience working with the cast and crew to transform our airport for their scenes.”
