Gupta Joins AAAE Federal Affairs Team

Stephanie Gupta, a veteran of Senate and House appropriations committee staff, is joining the federal affairs team at the American Association of Airport Executives. She will serve as senior vice president of security and facilitation.

“Stephanie Gupta is someone I have admired on Capitol Hill for more than two decades, and we are extremely fortunate to have her joining AAAE’s advocacy team at such a critical time for airports,” said Todd Hauptli, president and CEO of AAAE. “Her knowledge of public policy issues facing the transportation industry, her unparalleled understanding of the inner-workings of both the House and the Senate and her incredible work ethic make this move a huge win for the airport community.”

Gupta comes to AAAE from the Senate Appropriations Committee. She most recently served as minority clerk for the subcommittee responsible for funding the Department of Homeland Security and its component agencies, which include the Transportation Security Administration and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Gupta has also worked as the top professional staff member or clerk to the Senate DHS funding subcommittee for the minority and majority sides. Prior to that Gupta was the lead staffer for the minority and majority on the DHS funding subcommittee in the House of Representatives.

“While it’s been a tremendous honor and privilege to serve in both the House and Senate working with exceptional leaders who are genuinely focused on enhancing the security of the nation and promoting the efficiency of our transportation systems, I am looking forward to starting a new chapter at AAAE,” Gupta said. “I consider the AAAE team the gold standard in Washington, and I’m excited to get the chance to work with airport leaders to tackle the significant challenges and opportunities that exist with security and the facilitation of international passengers through gateway airports.”
