Harry Potter is Making Connections at the Airport

Why would travelers wait until they get home to stand in line at a supercenter, hoping to find the new Harry Potter book? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final installment of author J.K. Rowling’s blockbuster series, will be available at Hudson News and Hudson Booksellers stores in airports and rail terminals throughout the U.S. and Canada, beginning Saturday, July 21st at 12:01 a.m.

Are airport, rail and transit station stores really open at that time of night? Many will be open that night to cater to traveling Harry Potter fans who simply must be the first to learn the fate of their favorite student wizard.

In addition, most of Hudson’s 400-plus stores open at 4:30 a.m. to serve early flights and departures. So early bird travelers will be able to obtain their Harry Potter books at Hudson bookstores and newsstands – at a substantial discount – from associates encouraged to dress in Harry Potter glasses, hats, capes, etc.

“Our slogan for this promotion, ‘Hudson Connects You to Your Inner Wizard,’ is all about getting into the spirit of the event,” notes Hudson Booksellers Marketing Manager Justin Hennequant, who is coordinating all Harry release activities for the company. “Our store staffs are competing with each other to create the most engaging Harry display. And we are wrapping every Harry Potter purchase in a complimentary canvas tote bag, available exclusively at Hudson, featuring the new book jacket.”
