HDS Retail has opened its newest specialty retail apparel concept at Montreal – Pierre Elliott Trudeau International (YUL).
Red Canoe is represented by period colors and decorating techniques, and feature real icons in clothing. The store can be found post-security in the international concourse.
The clothes are made by Red Canoe-National Heritage Brands Inc., a Toronto-based company that designs and produces a collection of clothing, headwear and accessories based on vintage icons including BOEING, Cessna Aircraft, American Airlines, Bell Helicopters, Douglas Aircraft, North American Aviation, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canadian Pacific Railway, the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.
“Our relationship with Dax Wilkinson goes back many years,” says Jonathan Alpert, executive vice president of merchandising for HDS Retail North America, “He and his company, Red Canoe, are trendsetters in the design of new, high-quality, innovative product. They continually adapt their offering to meet consumers’ needs and have found a niche in the marketplace by focusing in on travelers but not in a way that screams out souvenir.”
Wilkinson, president and creative director of Red Canoe, says the company looks “forward to future challenge, growth and success” with HDS Retail.
“I must say a sincere thank you to the HDS team for their vision and support in pushing us and the Red Canoe retail concept to the next level,” he says. “This marks a great new phase of an even closer commitment and collaboration that builds on a rewarding seven-year partnership.”
