HMSHost Celebrates Earth Day, Tries To Offset Carbon Emissions

Throughout the month of April, travelers will be able to help offset carbon emissions through a special initiative by HMSHost Corp.

At select Host airport and motorway locations, passengers can buy all-natural dark chocolate bars, with a portion of sales being contributed to an environmental cause.

“As part of HMSHost’s sustainability and marketing efforts, we are offering travelers the opportunity to help offset carbon and positively impact the environment in which we live and travel,” says Atousa Ghoreichi, vice present of marketing for Host.

The purchase of each chocolate bar helps reduce the amount of emissions from flying 150 miles or driving 60 miles. The funds go to a project supplied by TerraPass, which is an organization that helps people make a difference in their everyday lives with carbon offsets and renewable energy credits.
