In an effort to spotlight hunger relief, HMSHost Corp. and Coca-Cola have teamed up for a summer sweepstakes to offer customers a chance to win a vacation package.
At the end of the promotion, HMSHost will donate a portion of sales proceeds to Feeding America, a domestic hunger relief charity. For every dollar HMSHost donates, the organization will help secure seven meals on behalf of local food banks.
“While entering for a chance to win a vacation is fun, we also want to use this opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of hunger relief for families in the U.S.,” says Vince Modica, HMSHost’s senior vice president of restaurants, marketing and supply chain. “Teaming up with our partner Coca-Cola is a great way to increase support for Feeding America’s programs.”
Through Sept. 15, HMSHost customers can use the free Microsoft Tag Reader on their smart phone to scan the Microsoft Tag found on 32 oz. cups of Coca-Cola at any of HMSHost’s airport, motorway or mall food court location. The Tag will take the customer to a website where he or she can enter contact information. Some HMSHost retail locations, such as newsstands and convenience stores, have in-store posters that feature the Tag; customers can also text the word “TRAVEL” to 733774 for a chance to win. The grand prize vacation includes hotel accommodations to one of three destinations: Orlando, Fla., Palm Springs, Calif., or Chicago, Ill.; the winner decides where he or she wants to go.
HMSHost works with Feeding America on food donation and fundraising programs in several of its airport and motorway locations, including Tampa International (TPA) and Charlotte Douglas International (CLT).
