HMSHost Receives Contract Extension at SJC

HMSHost Corp. has received a six-year contract extension at Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC). This contract extension, which is valued at approximately $267 million, was approved by the San José City Council on March 6 and includes a minimum capital investment of $6 million to construct and re-concept several dining locations in Terminals A and B, including two new locations in partnership with WSE Group Inc.

The contract also brings new brands to the airport. These include Shake Shack, Chick-fil-A, The Great American Bagel, International Beer Union, and Trader Vic’s. HMSHost will also expand its existing Gordon Biersch and one of its four Starbucks stores.

HMSHost operates several restaurants in SJC, including Shark’s Cage Sports Bar & Grill and Smashburger.

“HMSHost is excited to expand the dining scene and to continue to serve great food and beverages in support of [SJC’s] continued passenger growth records,” says Michael Price, vice president of business development for HMSHost. “We thank the San José City Council and airport team for their ongoing partnership, and we look forward to opening these leading brands along with enhancing some existing restaurants for travelers to enjoy for many years to come.”
