HMSHost Opens 2 Restaurants On Different Continents

Six hours and half a world apart, HMSHost Corp. opened dining concepts at two airports.

The Dutch Kitchen Bar & Cocktails is serving up Dutch cuisine at Holland Boulevard, located airside between Terminals 2 and 3 at Schiphol (AMS). Seating options include enormouse Delft Blue teacups, or the “Mad Tea Party” communal dining table; dining options include authentic Dutch cuisine specialties such as croquettes on farmhouse bread, traditional “poffertjes” and Dutch pancakes. All dishes are made from organic local produce and prepared in the open kitchen.

“We are proud to have this great Dutch Bar & Dutch Kitchen at our new Holland Boulevard,” says Otto Ambagtsheer, director business area consumers for the airport. “Guests enjoy typical Dutch food and drinks. Our partnership with HMSHost is always inspiring and this innovative concept fits perfectly with our strategy to be Europe’s preferred airport.”

The restaurant also has a bar, developed between HMSHost and Lucas Bols B.V., the oldest distilled spirit brand in the world; guests may assemble their own cocktail using the BOLS Cocktail Selector. Other unique features of the restaurant are the china service, designed by Royal Delft, producer of genuine Delft Blue earthenware, as well as the fashion exhibition pillar, which displays the work of the Netherlands’ fashion designers.

“At HMSHost, we strive to make the traveler’s day better every day,” says Dawn Wilding, vice president of HMSHost Europe and Middle East. “Holland Boulevard is anchored by the Dutch Kitchen Bar & Cocktails, a flagship combination of the best flavors and beverages of the Netherlands that showcases our ability to provide inspiring and authentic restaurants in travel venues.”

Six hours later, at John F. Kennedy International’s (JFK) British Airways Terminal 7, the third airport location of Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill opened its doors.

The full-service restaurant was created by Sammy Hagar and HMSHost. Hagar will dedicate his profits from this restaurant to local New York community charities; Blessings in a Backpack and Food Bank for New York City are slated to receive donations from the Hagar Family Foundation.

“British Airways is delighted to welcome the new Sammy’s Beach & Bar Grill to Terminal 7, where we are confident that the new restaurant will provide excitement as well as a fun menu for our diverse travelers,” says Maureen Borrell, vice president of British Airways at JFK. “We thank our partner HMSHost for delivering this new concept to our terminal and customers and we thank Sammy Hagar for his support.”

The restaurant celebrates the Red Rocker’s two favorite things: food and music and serves classic American fare for lunch and dinner.

“Music and dining are two of my great passions,” Hagar says. “Our menu is the result of recipes and advice I’ve received from some of my favorite friends and the celebrated chefs I’ve met in my travels across America.  Guests can enjoy a great meal and know that they are making a difference to local children in need.”

The beach house venue features vibrant colors, an eclectic atmosphere, Hagar’s guitars and musical memorabilia, and plasma screens showing news and videos.

“We are very pleased to continue our successful relationship with Sammy Hagar by delivering this exciting new restaurant not only to make the JFK traveler’s day better, but also to support local charities,” says Joe Waller, HMSHost’s vice president of business development.
