HMSHost Plants Trees To Honor Fans, Followers

HMSHost Corp. celebrated Earth Day by planting 10,000 trees as a way of showing appreciation for those people who follow the company on Twitter or like it on Facebook.

The company partnered with American Forests, a national non-profit organization, to plant the trees.

“Earth Day is such an impactful day to remind people of the importance of sustainability efforts in support of a healthy environment,” says Linda Dunn, vice president of supply chain and sustainability. “With more and more ways to share this message through social media, this initiative was a great opportunity to bring these audiences together in this shared goal.”

HMSHost also asked employees in each of its restaurant locations in airports, motorway travel plazas and malls across the country to turn off non-essential lights and gadgets for an hour in the afternoon.
