HMSHost Wins 10-Year Contract With Airmall At BWI

HMSHost Corp. has signed a deal with Airmall to bring dining options to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI) beginning later this year. The 10-year lease is expected to net sales of more than $130 million.

Developer Airmall’s own contract at BWI expires in 2022 but the company has the ability to offer contracts beyond its lease terms, an HMS spokesperson said.

HMSHost will add a new Family Meal location in BWI’s Concourse A. The restaurant, by Chef Bryan Voltaggio, offers comfort food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

In Concourse B, the company will open a Kapnos Marketa by Chef Mike Isabella. The concept features Mediterranean cuisine like freshly carved gyro meat.

Concourse D will be the new home of Brix & Vine, a wine bar created by HMSHost. The menu will include a wine list that features some Maryland wineries, complementing snacks, specialty sandwiches, burgers and dinners.

Finally, HMSHost will add Starbucks locations at BWI. Travelers will have access to the existing pre-security Starbucks in the Main Terminal location, plus a new lower level location. Locations will also be added to Concourses B and D.

“At BWI Marshall, we continue to offer an excellent, award-winning concessions program for travelers,” says Ricky Smith, CEO of BWI. “The new additions from HMSHost will highlight our commitment to a high-level dining experience for our customers. We are particularly excited that the new offerings will feature high-quality, local restaurant concepts.”

New offerings will start opening in spring and will continue through the end of 2016.
