HMSHost Donates Coke To Troops

Over the Independence Day holiday, HMSHost Corp. launched a partnership with the United Service Organizations to support troops traveling through airports.

From July 1 through Sept. 1, in coordination with Coca-Cola’s “Share a Coke” summer program, the concessionaire wants travelers across the country to use the hashtag #hostahero on social media sites Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google Plus.

The company aims to reach 100,000 uses of the hashtag and, in support, will donate $25,000 toward the purchase of Coca-Colas at more than 30 USO centers in airports across the U.S. HMSHost will advertise the promotion in dining venues at airports and travel plazas across the country.

“Each year, thousands of U.S. troops visit USO centers in airports while traveling for duty,” says Jeff Yablun, chief commercial officer and executive vice president of HMSHost. “Anything we can do as a company to support the USO’s operation of airport centers that will improve the experience of every person in uniform is something we consider a very worthy cause.”
