Hudson Booksellers has chosen its Best Books published in 2012.
The concept, a brand unit of Hudson Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dufry, AG, of Basel, Switzerland, named 10 best fiction, 10 best non-fiction, five best young readers and five best business interest books to the list. A panel of Hudson bookselling professions and managers throughout the country selected the books from a shortlist; works were chosen for achievements ranging from literary style and innovation, entertainment value and readability, to timeliness and treatment of subjects and themes.
The book of the year is “Drop Dead Healthy,” by A.J. Jacobs.
“I’m honored because I’m such a Hudson Booksellers fan,” said Jacobs upon hearing the news. “I’ve spent many hours browsing the aisles of this wonderful bookstore. No doubt it’s the best part of the airport experience, right up there with scoring the last available electrical outlet in LaGuardia’s Concourse C.”
As part of the celebration, all Hudson Booksellers and Hudson News locations will offer a 20% discount on the book of year and most of the other “best of” 2012 titles between Nov. 20 and Dec. 31. Best Books brochures will also be available from mid-November through the holiday book-buying season; they will feature reviews, Bookseller Top 10 lists and excerpts from selected books.
