Hudson Group is expanding its presence at Dallas Love Field (DAL) and John F. Kennedy International (JFK).
The city of Dallas has selected two joint ventured led by Hudson to provide food and retail services in the newly renovated DAL. The eight retail packages and five food and beverage packages include three newsstands, a bookstore, 11 specialty retail concepts and five food and beverage locations.
“Our joint venture team is delighted with this award and grateful for the opportunity to continue providing unparalleled service to the employees and travelers of Dallas Love Field, where we have operated for the past 18 years,” says Joe DiDomizio, president and CEO of Hudson Group.
Renee Dutia is principal and founder of Regali Inc., one of the joint venture partners.
“As a local partner familiar with the city, Regali’s main contribution to this RFP response was to suggest ways to showcase Dallas as the exciting destination that it is,” Dutia says. “I think that our affection for our hometown comes through, with concepts, brands and merchandise that are ‘distinctly Dallas.'”
Newsstands will have names such as West End News and CNN Newsstand-Dallas; there will also be national brands such as Hudson News and Hudson Booksellers.
More local businesses and attractions will be represented on the specialty retail side, including Fair Park TX, Billy Bob’s Texas, Mallasadi menswear and Famous Texas Boots; other specialty retail concepts include Desigual women’s wear, Tech on the Go, Travel + Leisure, Spectacles, Bliss, Soybu and Fire CZ.
Hungry diners will find the first airport location of local eatery Jason’s Deli, along with Dunkin’ Donuts, Baskin-Robbins and a new grab-and-go concept called Texpress Gourmet.
Mark Duebner, interim director of aviation for the city of Dallas, says , “Dallas Love Field looks forward to continuing our successful partnership with Hudson Group.”
At JFK, the company has inaugurated a new retail program in Terminal 1, with all stores operated by Hudson Group. Michael Kors, Juicy Couture, Tumi and Victoria’s Secret are open; a Harley-Davidson store, developed in conjunction with Miracle Mile Harley of Great Neck, N.Y., will open in the summer.
The Michael Kors store is the first free-standing shop in an airport and offers handbags and accessories by the designer. At Juicy Couture, guests will find women’s and girls’ apparel, handbags, shoes, intimates, swimwear, accessories, sunglasses, yoga, fragrance and baby merchandise. Shoppers at Victoria’s Secret will be able to select from the brand’s beauty products, fragrances and accessories, including small leather goods, bags and luggage, along with apparel. Tumi offers luggage, business cases, handbags, wallets, sunglasses and writing instruments.
Hudson will also be focusing on new Hudson News stores throughout the airport.
“Hudson has been working toward this moment since 1997, when we first partnered with our landlord in this building, Terminal One Group Association,” says DiDomizio. “I especially thank TOGA Executive Director Ed Paquette for having the confidence in our company that allowed us to execute these upscale brands.
“Today’s international traveler is looking for exciting shopping experiences and great American designer brands,” he continues. “As a division of global travel retailer Dufry, Hudson Group has access to all the top brands. Our expert design and merchandising teams have the ability to create the right merchandise mix and atmosphere for every airport and terminal.”
