IND Temporary Art Program Exhibits Arrive

A new set of temporary exhibits has landed at Indianapolis International (IND).

The airport’s program focuses on new works from artists with ties to the local community.

One of the displays is by Paul Siebenthal, who creates objects and imagery that revise history, according to a news release. For IND he created a historical display examining the history of the Midwest Aeronautical Agriculture Association and the creation of Food Parks following World War I. It is displayed in the South Ticket Hall display case.

Indianapolis-based Jamie Pawlus is a conceptual artist with a focus on the urban environment whose work often features repurposed materials commonly found in the public realm, including commercial or transportation signage. She created “Happiness,” a site-specific project for the airport that mimics the airport signage style and video graphics to comment on the reliance on signs for locational directions. Her sign directs travelers to “Happiness.” It is in the North Ticket Hall display case.

The exhibits will be on display in the main ticketing hall through May 4.
