Interactive Wayfinding Launched At SFO

As part of the renovation of San Francisco International’s (SFO) Boarding Area E, the airport chose Omnivex Moxie to create an interactive wayfinding tool to guide passengers from terminal to terminal and eliminate the need for various static maps.

Boarding Area E opened in late January with two interactive screens in the remodeled boarding area.

“The screens enable travelers to easily find where they need to go anywhere in the airport and the best route to get there, whether by walking or by taking the airport’s automated AirTrain,” says Vicki Sundstrom, manager of airport signage and wayfinding at SFO. “They also allow passengers to explore their options for dining, shopping and things to do, giving them a more rewarding airport experience.”

Additionally, the interactive tool ties into other SFO systems, allowing maps to be updated in real time. Plans are in place to add additional touch screens throughout the airport and to add advanced features.
