Nashville International Airport (BNA) has officially opened its expanded and upgraded interim International Arrivals Building. This opening marks the first project to be completed under BNA Vision, BNA’s multi-faceted growth and expansion plan.
The interim International Arrivals Building will accommodate British Airways’ new nonstop service between BNA and London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR), which is set to begin May 4. The International Arrivals Building will accommodate travelers from Canadian, Mexican and Caribbean destinations as well.
Construction on the interim International Arrivals Building project began in May 2017, and its upgrades include a second passenger boarding bridge, improvements to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection processing area, and a direct connection between the interim IAB and the baggage-claim area. As a result of these upgrades and improvements, BNA predicts its processing capacity for international arrivals will double.
“Our upgraded interim International Arrivals Building expands our ability to serve international passengers flying to Nashville, whether from the United Kingdom, Mexico, the Caribbean or elsewhere,” says Doug Kreulen, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. “It was built with convenience in mind and will significantly improve and expedite the process for passengers until our permanent, state-of-the-art International Arrivals Facility opens in 2023.”
