JAA Creates Panel To Study Security Costs

The
Jacksonville Aviation Authority has formed a Security Committee to evaluate
security costs and efficiency at Jacksonville International (JAX).

JAA Chair
Ronald Weaver and board members Chester Aikens and Ernie Isaac will explore
whether it is financially beneficial to use the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office
deputies and community resource officers at the airport.

“The
purpose of creating a new security committee is to examine how to make JAX a
more efficient airport in the current economy,” says Isaac, who will chair the
committee.

The airport
is always looking for ways to lower overhead expenditures, says Michael
Stewart, director of external affairs for the JAA.

“As with
many other costs associated with the airport, security is just one more area
where we are considering other alternatives,” he says. “Of course, JAA also
remains committed to providing superb service in safety and security.”
