Jewsbury Succeeding Lagos At St. Petersburg-Clearwater International

Noah Lagos’ final day at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International (PIE) will be this Friday. He is retiring after 11 years as airport director.

The appointment of Tom Jewsbury, above left, as his successor was announced in February. The two have been working together in preparation for the succession since then, says spokeswoman Michele Routh.

Jewsbury has been in aviation management since 1990, when he was hired as an airport operations supervisor at Dane County Regional (MSN) in Madison, Wis. He was hired at PIE in September 1994 as an airport operations supervisor where he was tasked with helping develop the airport’s newly created operations division.

“Tom is very capable and willing to continue to build on the relationships and partnerships that have made the airport successful,” said Mark Woodard, county administrator, in a memo announcing the promotion. “I am confident that Tom and his team will continue to bring much success to the airport. I am proud that we, the Pinellas County family, value outstanding talent within our organization and can provide promotional and other opportunities for our dedicated employees.”

Lagos spearheaded many airport projects during his tenure, including the extension of PIE’s main runway and a $21 million renovation of the terminal building and associated infrastructure. PIE, in 2010, was named Florida Commercial Service Airport of the Year by the Florida Department of Transportation. Lagos is a past president of the Florida Airport’s Council.
