KCI Schedules Meet & Greets for Prospective New Concessionaires

The Kansas City Aviation Department (KCAD) and its partners ICF and Phillips West this week announced two virtual concessions meet and greets on January 12 and 13, 2021 to outline the concession opportunities in the upcoming $1.5 billion new terminal at Kansas City International Airport (KCI).

The overall vision for the Build KCI concessions program is for one that is customer-centric, provides a sense of place, engages useful technology and integrates a true spirit of Kansas City, the aviation department said.

The aviation department is inviting interested companies to register at FlyKCI.com/Concessions to schedule private, 20-minute virtual meetings with companies of their choosing.

“The airport is the front door to the community and the new terminal needs to provide that sense of place for visitors and locals alike,” said Pat Klein, KCMO aviation director. “The right concessions program is key to achieving this.”

The new KCI terminal is set to open in 2023 in a one million square-foot footprint. It will initially feature 39 gates, with the ability to expand up to 50 gates in the future. The new terminal project also includes a 6,000-plus space parking structure, which will be constructed adjacent to the terminal building, a central utility plant, and landside and airside improvements.
