Las Vegas International Airport (LAS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are testing a new self-screening security system that lets travelers go through the checkpoint at their own pace. Initially intended for TSA Pre-Check passengers, the new system is being tested as the TSA Innovation Checkpoint in Terminal 3 at the airport.
Using the new system, passengers first confirm their identification and flight reservation via facial recognition, then place their bags on a conveyor belt to be screened before walking through a scanner.
If passengers have any questions during the self-screening process, they can interact with TSA officers via a touch screen monitor.
