LGA Upgrades Food, Shops

Food and retail options available at LaGuardia’s (LGA) Terminal B will be upgraded this year, according to officials at developer MarketPlace Development.

The improvements will upgrade the experience at Terminal B, otherwise known as the Central Terminal Building, as the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey makes plans to replace the aging facility, which has received some high-profile criticism this year from the likes of Vice President Joe Biden. Construction is expected to start on that project in 2015.

In the meantime, new specialty stores will include America!, Desigual, Eddie Bauer, L’Occitane, LaCoste, Lick, Ruby Blue and Tumi. InMotion Entertainment and Duty Free Americas stores will be remodeled.

New food options will include Bowery Bay Cafe, Einstein Bros., Piccolo Mercato, Six Block Bakery, Sorrentine and Villa Italian Kitchen. Au Bon Pain will remodel all of its units and add a homemade sandwich bar to its 24-hour operation in the food court near the D gates.

“The Food & Shops program at LGA has won some of the most prestigious awards in the industry, and our goal is to continue to provide travelers with an exceptional shopping and dining experience and up-to-date amenities as a new terminal is being built,” says Paul McGinn, president of MarketPlace.

Construction is underway and is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
