Light Rail Service Launches From DFW

It took six years of working together and five miles of additional track, but Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW) and Dallas Area Rapid Transit this week launched light rail passenger service connecting downtown Dallas with the airport.

The DART Orange line trains connects from the DFW Airport Station, which is a three-minute walk from Terminal A.

The 5-mile segment links DFW with DART’s Belt Line Station, with continuing service to several major regional destinations, including Irving-Las Colinas, Dallas Market Center and downtown Dallas.

“This is a momentous day for our customers and for DFW Airport because passenger rail is a critical component to DFW’s status as a top-tier international gateway,” says Sean Donohue, CEO of DFW. “With the DART Orange Line connecting DFW to downtown Dallas, DFW is now on a par with global hub airports that have integrated rail, which is a major selling point for customers and conventions.”
