Two Austin originals have arrived at Austin Bergstrom International (AUS): Hill’s Café© and Nuevo Leon.
“We have the best local lineup in our airport than any other airport across the country,” says Terry Mahlum, DNC Regional Manager. “We at Delaware North Companies are so excited to add both The Hill’s Cafe and Nuevo Leon to the great mix of local Austin favorites at Austin-Bergstrom. It does not get any better than this. The local flavors of Hill’s and Nuevo Leon continue the airport’s commitment to show off the Austin’s culture.”
Hill’s Café© offers chicken fried steak, chicken wraps, Portobello burgers and hamburgers; it also offers breakfast, featuring egg sandwiches, sausage wraps and biscuits with sausage gravy.
At Nuevo Leon’s, guests can choose from beef burritos, tacos and nachos, avocado salad, queso and the Nuevo Leon family recipe salsa; breakfast tacos are also available.
Both restaurants are open 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and can be found post-security.
In other AUS news…
In an effort to bring some relief to the lines at AUS, the airport has begun a construction project to add two passenger screening lanes and increase the flow of passengers through security checkpoints by more than 20%.
The project will add two security lanes and carry-on X-ray machines, one each at the checkpoints by Southwest Airlines and American Airlines, bringing the number of passenger screening lanes to 11. Current passenger screening capacity will not be affected during construction.
Local companies Alpha Building Corp. and Prism Development Inc. are performing the work, expected to by finished by the spring. The project is being funded through the airport’s capital fund, and the Transportation Security Administration is participating through its contractor and separate funding.
