LS Travel Retail North America has opened its first two stores at Sangster International (MBJ) with local partner Bradley Mahfood, a Jamaican businessman.
The company opened its convenience store RELAY, offering reading materials, convenience-related products, health and beauty items, travel-related accessories and Jamaican-themed gifts and souvenirs, with a second location coming in May; it also opened a Caribbean-tailored concept, Island News & Coffee, which gives travelers a sense of place and features coffee brews and baked goods. All three stores will be in 3,011 sq. ft. of retail space.
“We’re very pleased to introduce our concepts at Sangster International Airport and feel privileged to be serving the Montego Bay customer,” says Gerry Savaria, president and CEO of LS Travel Retail North America. “We are confident that RELAY will resonate with the MBJ traveler, made up to a large degree of Americans and Canadians, a customer base that has come to expect the extensive news and gifts assortment carried in our stores. Also, Island News is a welcome addition for the pre-security customer – travelers and meeter-greeter alike.”
Elizabeth Brown Scotton, chief commercial officer of MBJ Airports Ltd., says the airport is excited to be expanding its concessions offerings with the RELAY and Island News concepts.
“We are working diligently to enhance our food and retail portfolio and have great plans coming together in the months ahead,” she says. “Bringing on board reputable and customer service focused partners such as LS Travel Retail will help us take our program to the next level.”
