LS Travel Retail North America is adding to its retail portfolio at Toronto Pearson International (YYZ) and Sangster International (MBJ).
At Toronto, LS Travel Retail and Hudson’s Bay Co. will open the first Hudson’s Bay Co. airport store in Terminal 1 in October.
The store will offer fashion and home accessories from the Hudson’s Bay Co. Collection, including artisanal candles and sweaters for men, women and children. The line is anchored by the HBC Point Blanket and features its iconic signature stripes in green, red, yellow and indigo.
“We’re extremely pleased to be able to introduce the HBC brand to airport guests and travelers,” says Gerry Savaria, [resident and CEO of LS Travel Retail North America. “The brand is part of our nation’s collective psyche and it has succeeded in staying relevant for today’s savvy fashion shoppers, many of whom are well-traveled. Given The Bay’s position as a landmark of the downtown Toronto shopping experience, it’s only fitting – no pun intended – that Toronto Pearson is the first airport to showcase this iconic brand.”
The Hudson’s’ Bay Co. has been in Canada for 342 years and is known for its historical role in the country’s development.
“Our stripes are internationally recognized and resonate not only with Canadians but with people from all around the world,” says Bonnie Brooks, president of The Hudson’s Bay Co. “This is another exciting milestone for us as we continue to offer new and unique shopping options and destinations. Opening our first shop at Toronto Pearson will provide an enhanced shopping experience to customers during their travels and gives everyone the chance to own a piece of iconic and stylish Canadian memorabilia.”
Pamela Griffith-Jones, chief marketing officer for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, calls the opening “very exciting.”
“The beautifully designed store, to be located in the domestic area of Terminal 1, will feature a range of HBC merchandise that reflects a true sense of our Canadian heritage while sharing some of our history with all those who travel through Toronto Pearson,” she says.
The YYZ store is not set to open until October, but LS Travel Retail has already opened a second RELAY store at Sangster International in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The store, which began operating July 14, the company’s flagship concept offers travel essentials, media items, convenience-related products, health and beauty items, and Jamaican-themed gifts and souvenirs.
The 713 sq. ft. store can be found post-security.
